The renowned documentary “Ithaka” (2021) is coming to The University of Erfurt on the 25th of November at 4:30 pm at LG1/HS3 after premiering at the Human Rights Film Festival in Berlin!
This documentary is about the prosecution of Wiki Leaks Founder Julian Assange by the US government after he uploaded leaked material of secret intelligence documents.
Ithaka portrays the moving fight of his father, John Shipton, and Assange’s fiancé, Stella Moris, to protect him from a 175-year imprisonment.
As they advocate for Julian’s freedom they cautiously step into the media‘s glare – and are forced to confront the events that made Julian a global flashpoint. With his health declining and the threat of an extradition to the US ever so increasing, it’s a fight against time.
After the documentary, we get the chance to sit down with co-producer and Stella Moris’ brother, Adrian Devant, to have your questions answered. There will be a German interpretation if desired.

Die renommierte Dokumentation “Ithaka” (2021) kommt am 25.11. um 16:30 nach der Premiere am Human Rights Film Festival in Berlin an die Uni Erfurt im LG1/HS3!
Die Dokumentation geht um die Strafverfolgung des Wiki Leaks Gründer Julian Assange durch die US-Regierung nachdem er Secret Intelligence Dokumente hochlud.
Ithaka zeigt den bewegenden Kampf seines Vaters, John Shipton, und Assanges Verlobten Stella Moris, die ihn vor einer 175 Jahre langen Gefängnisstrafe bewahren wollen.
Dabei treten sie vorsichtig in die Medienwelt und werden mit den Events, die Julian auf aller Welt bekannt machten, konfrontiert. Während seine Gesundheit immer weiter abnimmt und die Gefahr einer Auslieferung immer größer wird, verwandelt es sich auch in einen Kampf gegen die Zeit.
Nach der Doku haben wir die Möglichkeit, Fragen an den Co-Produzenten und Bruder der Verlobten, Adrian Devant, zu richten. Wenn nötig, wird dieses Interview übersetzt. Auch der Film wird mit deutschen Untertiteln gezeigt werden.
